Sports injuries.
Sports related injuries are frustrating at the very least. Sometimes you know exactly what happened to you, other times it’s not quite clear what the problem is.
We’ll work with you to diagnose your injury.
We’ll outline a treatment plan to help your body heal the injury.
We’ll give you a rehabilitation plan so that you can help yourself to recover as quickly as possible.
Muscle injury, spasms and tension.
Both osteopathy and sports massage can be very helpful to speed up recovery from a muscle tear. Treatment improves blood flow to the healing tear and helps to reduce long term tightness in the scar tissue.
Nerve pain,“trapped nerve”(neuralgia).
When people describe the feeling of a trapped nerve they often say: tingling, burning, numb, shooting, stabbing, pins and needles, cold, like water over the skin. If your nerve pain is due to stiffness in the joints or muscle tension then often it will respond very well to osteopathic treatment. We can mobilise the joints, relax the muscles and free up the nerve.
Arthritis.
Arthritis can occur in any of the synovial joints of the body and can be very debilitating. Osteopathy is recommended as part of a package of care by the NHS for hip and knee arthritis. Combined with exercise and medication (where appropriate), osteopathy can help to reduce pain and increase mobility to improve quality of life. Treatment focuses on reducing pain in the affected joints, as well as providing exercise, diet and lifestyle advice to help you self-manage your arthritis.
Rheumatic pain.
Pain from rheumatological diseases can vary greatly. Some people with Rheumatoid arthritis get some pain relief from osteopathy treatments, but not everyone does. If you have a rheumatological disease and you are unsure if osteopathy can help then please call us to discuss your condition prior to booking an appointment.
Pregnancy and post-partum.
During pregnancy the body changes more rapidly than at any other time in life. Those changes include the softening of ligaments, weight increase and changes to posture. These changes can lead to additional pressure on joints in various parts of the body, including the spine or pelvis. Osteopathy can help relieve the stresses and strains on your body during pregnancy and after birth.
